OMG Joel Grey is amazing. He defines this role so well. To hit what is a thankless charecter, but with charisma, do not even get me started. From what I know, he was doing this in the theatre, and people had to work damn hard to put him in the moves. Didn't he win an Oscar over this? I hope so.
came here because of tiktok😂
Joel sings so beautifully sarcastic. Nobody will ever fill his shoes. Unique moment in movie history.
Outstanding outstanding outstanding
Great performance . Great musical Movie . One of Best musical ones Ever with , also Liza Minelli , such a great Actress and Singer Love it ! Thanks 😅😊❤
Schitts Creek brought me here
Such a great Performing
John kander should have won more Tonys for Cabaret and Chicago. They still don't know the great value of this work. I think I was neglected.
Im convinced this is what hell looks like
Who are the two actresses? Does anyone know their names? They're just as great as Joel Grey and should get equal credit for this.
Watched Cabaret for the first time ever last week, and ever since I’ve watched this video at last 5 times a day. This is so beautiful and creepy. Love the choreography when the girls are introduced. Anyone else in love with Mausi?
Bob Fosse. He was IT.
The pigeon toed walk, the thrust hips, the laconic finger twirls, the flexed-foot kick line. Fosse’s vocabulary of movement is so creepy and perfect.
The Caberet girls are all amazing- even though they never got acclaim.
Joel Grey!!! My favorite Emcee ever!!! Love the singing, the adlibs, the mannerisms, the way he communicates through his eyes with constant ambiguity, seeping darkness and that burst of hilarity and campiness... all that inner conflict meshed into one complex, solid, memorable, historic, spectacular performance! I find it always refreshing and never get tired of watching this bit! I wish I was one of the cabaret girls!
This was one of the 1st musicals my mum showed me and i legit fell in love lol she then showed me chicago carosel lol this one stuck for life
I dont wanna hear anyone call Eddie Redmaynes Emcee creepy The Emcee has always been creepy
The fact that Joel Grey defeated James Cann, Al Pacino and Robert Duvalll that year for the Godfather, says a lot of Joel's brilliant performance.
Bendito Bob Fosse ❤
It"s like a creepy circus. Gray was born to play this part.
I'm here because of batch 81...
Joel Grey❤
This is one of my all time favourites 🥰
I bet Rob Marshall watched this film around when he made Chicago.
Coming back to this after watching Eddie redmayne on stage at Tony’s. This is just a different class. The brilliance of this performance is he is like a puppet but charming and wildly unhinged at the same time. It’s terrifying but enthralling. Eddie redmayne version follows a trend that seems quite common of acting by dehumanising. He’s contorted and stiff. The emcee here is languid and enthralling. It’s brilliant and incomparable to redmayne hammed up version
Great musical. Hard to believe this great city and country were plunged into darkness less than two years later. It CAN happen here.
These girls were twerking long before twerking was a thing!
You start to watch this movie, listen to the music, and then after a while realise that the Nazi's have taken over :o monsieur.
One cool thing is that Joel is Jennifer Grey's dad.
💋♥️
Masterpiece.
I don’t fancy ingith!!
puta que esta cambiado el Max Salgado
Times are going backwards. Was Dad's favorite show that he ever did!
The one musical I would never tire of watching. Based on I'm A Camera which was based on part of Isherwood's Goodbye to Berlin. It's a masterpiece. How a musical can focus on a small group of people and a small location to depict a real, looming and growing horror beyond. Chilling and absolutely mesmerising. Recommended to all. Even if you don't like musicals. Better still read Christopher Isherwood's Berlin novels: Mr Norris Takes A Train and Goodbye To Berlin.
I think it's "Mr. Norris changes trains".
The Otto Dix painting as a character at the beginning...
Who's here because of Jim Cornette comparison's to Kenny Omega?
продолжу свой коментарий.боб фосс умудрился в 5 минутный эпизод вложить смысл фильма.гениально
если бы фильм на этом закончился ,можно спокойно давать оскара.
Personally, I did not enjoy the movie. But Joel Grey shows absolute control of his character, it is awesome, outstanding performance 2:28
And then his daughter cut off her nose to spite her face.
Grandiosa película. Muchos ya no la vieron....
Da miedo este video parece película d terror
Would love to see Christolph Waltz taking on this role
One of the BEST opening songs ever!!
I love all the scenes where the Master of Ceremonies sings. Joel Grey did a great job on performing the role that is why Cabaret is an instant classic.
Now that's how you kick off a movie. Possibly the greatest opening scene ever conceived and recorded. Fast, colourful, funny, intriguing. Is there a person alive who is not going to stick around to see what's coming next?
4:40-4:45
There was something so decadent and feral about Joel Grey's emcee, that it's hard to beat, others have come close, but still not the same.
Most brilliant movie opening of all time. Bob fosse directs!
